Communicating Stories of Change: A Conversation between Media and Development Sector Practitioners

The overall question that we were interested in was how to effectively communicate evidence around EbA (or climate change adaptation) in the form of inspiring stories to the general public. The underlying hypothesis in this question was that stories of change in the media help to get the attention of policymakers, donors, and decision-makers to upscale critical actions towards dealing with climate change.

We addressed this through a focus on the following points:

  • Current challenges in communicating stories of change from the environment/development sector
  • The role of specialised/niche media in bringing about change and upscaling critical actions
  • Data on Readership. What works and what doesn’t?
  • How to bridge the gap between mainstream media and development sector
  • Engaging PR for amplifying visibility and impact
